Are you convinced?!

Last week concluded our unit on persuasive writing. We learned a lot about what it takes to really be convincing. To culminate the unit, each small group of students wrote and performed their own commercial for what ever item they chose to sell. After a class vote, the following video was chosen to represent our work as a class. Are you persuaded to buy this jacket? Enjoy!

We Are Published Authors!

Over the last 5 weeks, we have been working on Personal Narrative writing in Writer’s Workshop.  Students have created stories from their own lives and found ways to stretch them out into narrative pieces.  We have had many lessons about zooming in, adding details, telling our stories moment by moment, starting with a great beginning and more!  Last week, we turned our pieces into the best writing pieces ever by creating and using our Personal Narrative Rubric.  Finally, it was time to celebrate our writing with a PUBLISHING PARTY!  We sat around in a circle, ate Tootsie Pops, and celebrated each other as writers.  Check out our student Z as he shares his Personal Narrative piece.
